DO: Positive Behaviors

Be Supportive

  • Offer empathy and validation to those sharing difficult experiences
  • Share your own experiences if it might help others
  • Celebrate others' wins, no matter how small
  • Ask thoughtful questions to understand better

Be Respectful

  • Respect different perspectives and coping methods
  • Use content warnings for potentially triggering topics
  • Acknowledge that everyone's journey is different
  • Give space for others to share without interrupting

Be Safe

  • Protect your own anonymity and others'
  • Direct people to professional help when appropriate
  • Report content that seems harmful or concerning
  • Take breaks when you need them

DON'T: Prohibited Behaviors

Harmful Content

  • Self-harm content: Methods, encouragement, or glorification
  • Suicide content: Methods, pacts, or encouragement
  • Violence: Threats, descriptions of violence, or gore
  • Pro-eating disorder: Tips, thinspo, or encouragement

Harassment & Abuse

  • Bullying, mocking, or belittling others' struggles
  • Hate speech based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, etc.
  • Unwanted sexual content or advances
  • Doxxing or sharing personal information
  • Stalking or following users across the platform

Toxic Behaviors

  • "Toxic positivity" that dismisses real pain
  • Unsolicited medical or therapeutic advice
  • Gatekeeping mental health experiences
  • One-upping others' struggles
  • Diagnosing others or yourself without professional input

Platform Abuse

  • Spam or excessive self-promotion
  • Impersonating others or professionals
  • Attempting to bypass moderation or safety features
  • Creating multiple accounts to evade bans
  • Trying to "jailbreak" or manipulate Manas AI

Sharing Best Practices

When Sharing Your Story

  • Use the emotion tags to help others prepare
  • Add content warnings for sensitive topics
  • Focus on your experience, not giving advice
  • Remember: you don't need to share everything

When Responding to Others

  • Lead with empathy: "That sounds really hard..."
  • Validate before suggesting: "Your feelings are valid..."
  • Offer resources, not diagnoses
  • It's okay to just say "I hear you" — sometimes that's enough

Crisis Situations

If you or someone else is in immediate danger:

  • Emergency: Call 911 (US) or your local emergency number
  • Crisis Hotline: 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in US)
  • Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741

Our moderation team monitors for crisis language and may reach out with resources. This is done with care, not judgment.

Privacy & Safety

  • Never share your real name, location, or identifying information
  • Don't share screenshots of private conversations
  • Report any requests for personal information
  • Be cautious of users directing you off-platform

Moderation & Consequences

Our moderation approach:

  1. First offense: Content removal + warning
  2. Second offense: Temporary suspension (24-72 hours)
  3. Serious violations: Immediate permanent ban
  4. Severe cases: Report to authorities if necessary
