Self-Care is Not Selfish
Self-care has been trivialized as bubble baths and face masks, but genuine self-care is the deliberate practice of maintaining your physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. It is the foundation upon which everything else — work, relationships, ambition — is built.
Morning Routine (15 minutes)
- Mindful wake-up (2 min): Before reaching for your phone, take five deep breaths and set an intention for the day
- Hydrate: Drink a full glass of water before coffee or tea
- Movement (5 min): Gentle stretching, a short walk, or light yoga
- Gratitude (3 min): Write three things you are grateful for in your SatKarya diary
- Breathing exercise (5 min): Start your day centered with guided breathing
Midday Check-In (5 minutes)
- Pause and assess your emotional state
- Practice a one-minute grounding exercise if feeling stressed
- Step outside for fresh air if possible
- Eat mindfully, away from screens
Evening Wind-Down (15 minutes)
- Digital sunset: Put devices away 30-60 minutes before sleep
- Reflection: Journal about your day in your private diary
- Relaxation: Listen to sleep sounds
- Connection: If you need to process the day, talk to Manas or share in the SatKarya community
Weekly Practices
- One longer exercise session (30+ minutes)
- Social connection — meaningful conversation with someone you trust
- Nature exposure — spend time outdoors
- Review your mood patterns using SatKarya's tracking
- One activity purely for enjoyment, with no productivity goal
Making It Stick
Start small. Do not try to implement everything at once. Choose one morning and one evening practice, do them consistently for two weeks, then gradually add more.
